Stephan Winkler
Director, Producer, Distributor
Stephan Winkler worked as an editor, sound recordist, director of photography, and assistant director before he shot his first short film "Sichtblende" in 1998. A year later followed the award-winning documentary "A Natural Thing" and in 2000 he shot his first short fiction film on 35mm "Guf Ha-Neschamot – The Hall of Souls". His documentary "Uetam – The Rebirth of a Legend" had its first screenings in Germany and Spain in 2008.
To create more space in cinemas for unusual formats and for film students, he founded W-film Distribution with the label "NIGHT OF THE SHORTS" in 1999. To date W-film has over 200 short films and roughly 25 feature films in its portfolio.
Since 2009 he has returned to film production. The first project is the feature film "Philipp & Julie“, a German-Spanish co-production. The story development was sponsored by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
