Axel the Hero

Germany 2018 / Comedy / 90 minutes / Director: Hendrik Hölzemann / Suitable for 12 years and over

Director

Hendrik Hölzemann, born in 1976, graduated with distinction from the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. "Nichts bereuen", his first screenplay, is a box-office success under the direction of Benjamin Quabeck. In 1999 Hölzemann co-founded the company Panic Pictures, with which he produces various music videos. During a stay in Australia he prepared "Kammerflimmern", his final thesis as a writer and his directing debut, which was later shown at festivals worldwide and received many awards. Hölzemann develops the multi-layered characters of his film material with particular dedication, which also lends depth of field to lighter stories. His sure hand shapes films such as "Ganz nah bei dir", which won the Audience Award at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis in 2009, as well as more recent projects such as the feature film "Onno Viets" based on the novel by Frank Schulz or the BKM-sponsored project "The Happy Man" (both in development). For Filmtank, he produced the trailer and the 5-part web series for the cross-media web documentary "Netwars" with Nikolai Kinski in 2013. The series received the Grimme Online Award in 2015. In 2015 Hölzemann shot "Axel the Hero".
