Saskia Diesing
Saskia Diesing (1972) moved to the Netherlands at the age of eight, having lived in Germany until then. After graduating as a filmmaker from the Utrecht University of the Arts (HKU) in 1996, she worked for seven years at the Dutch TV station VPRO as director and editor-in-chief for several TV programs.
In 2003, she directed "DU," a bilingual TV road movie selected for the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Input Festival and Prix Europa. She then directed and wrote the screenplays of several short films and TV movies.
Her first feature film "Nena" was released in September 2014 and won the Golden Calf in the category Best Actress and Best Director at the 2015 Dutch Film Festival. The film was selected for several international film festivals and the Generation 14+ program at the 2015 Berlinale, where the film won a Special Mention Jury Award. "The Lost Train" has been sold to many countries and screened at festivals around the world. Her second feature film "Craving" premiered at IFFR in 2018 and was selected for the Shanghai International Film Festival.
After "The Lost Train", she is currently working on a feature film about the #MeToo movement called "The Hearing". Saskia Diesing has also been a lecturer in screenwriting and directing at HKU Media, School of the Arts Utrecht since 2004, as well as a screenwriting and directing coach for many filmmakers.
