MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN – PREMIERES IN BONN AND COLOGNE

The audience gave *A Nobody Against Putin* a standing ovation at its premieres on September 21—International Day of Peace—at the Rex-Lichtspieltheater in Bonn and the Odeon Kino in Cologne. Pavel “Pasha” Talankin, co-director and protagonist of the Oscar®-winning documentary, answered numerous questions from the audience afterward. The post-screening discussions were moderated by Jürgen Lütz (Odeon Kino) and interpreted by Eduard Isaak.

The film by David Borenstein and Pavel Talankin documents how propaganda and militarization have changed daily life at a Russian school since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Talankin’s footage, shot while he was working as a teacher and videographer, brings this development into sharp focus. The audience in Cologne engaged in a particularly lively discussion about the impact on children and adolescents. Talankin spoke of a growing fear of expressing one's own opinion and of patriotic rituals that were becoming increasingly commonplace. Despite his pessimistic view of the prospects for peace, he emphasized his desire for a swift end to the war.
