Director
Elena Alvarez Lutz was born in Munich and spent her early childhood and youth in Spain. Growing up between two cultures on a coast that was still deserted at the time, she was interested in images, sounds and collage communication beyond language. After training as an interpreter, she studied documentary film and television journalism at the HFF Munich. She founded film-24 as part of Filmstadt München e.V., a loose programme series in Munich's Werkstattkino, in which experimental S-8 and 16 mm films were shown.
Since 2007 she has worked as a writer for the political satirical programme quer, the cultural programme Capriccio (Bayerischer Rundfunk) and ttt. Between 2011-2013 she was a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, Aesthetic Theory. She works as a freelance filmmaker and producer across genres between fiction, essayistic and documentary. She is a member of the German Federal Association of Directors (BVR). Elena Alvarez Lutz currently lives in Munich and Málaga.
