Julia Keller, born 1980 in Erding, Germany, studied fine art in Great Britain at the Chelsea College of Art & Design from 2000 to 2003. During this time she also attended the Emily Carr Institute of Art in Vancouver, Canada. Back in Germany, she studied directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne until 2010 and then went abroad for another semester on an exchange programme with the International Academy of Film and Television in Havana, Cuba.
Julia Keller was awarded the 2009 German Camera Prize by the jury for her medium-length documentary film "Agridulce" as a promising up-and-coming talent with the Promotional Award in the editing section. Her first short feature film "Beredtes Schweigen" won prizes for Best Actress, Best Camera and Best Sound Design at the L.A. Film Fest and was awarded the rating "Especially Worthwhile" by the Deutschen Film- und Medienbewertung (FBW).
Her first full-length feature film "Not.Now." celebrated its world premiere at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis in 2017 and will be released on 9 November 2017.
Julia Keller lives and works in Cologne.
