Klaus Stanjek
Klaus Stanjek makes documentaries on social, ecological and societal topics for television, cinema and educational work. His films deal with the downsides of the money society, with counter-worlds, archaic worlds and children's worlds. Often they deal with the question of other ways of living.
Born in Wuppertal, Germany, he studied social anthropology, received his doctorate with research work comparing cultures at the Max Planck Institute and then studied documentary film at the HFF Munich. Since 1983, in addition to producing films, he has also worked as a lecturer (in Munich, Bolzano, Colombo, Addis Ababa, Beijing, Leipzig, Tehran, Jenin). From 1993 to 2014 he taught as professor for documentary directing at the HFF Potsdam. There he conducted a long-term study on documentary cinema in Germany. 2006 to 2007 documentary workshop together with an Iranian film school. Project "Social Spots against Xenophobia, Nationalism and Intolerance" 2008-09. He lives in Babelsberg near Berlin.
His most well-known films include "Quer zur Landschaft", "Die Wasserherren", "Zwielicht", "Commune of Bliss" and "Sounds from the Fog".
