Director's Commentary
»From a film club with children, which takes place at the Max-Grundschule in Düsseldorf, the idea arose to realise a feature-length project. I wrote a novel and the screenplay at the same time and then started shooting with adult professional actors and child actors. The first twenty minutes were shot chronologically, edited, fast VFX was installed, prototypical music was played and a small test screening was done. The reactions were so positive that I finished the feature-length film as planned. The team premiere in Düsseldorf, which we held in November 2017, was also a great success, so W-film took on the distribution. The "modern times", the digitalization of film technology, made "Max Topas" possible. Certainly not a 'critics' film – but after all the screenings so far, an exciting and entertaining audience film for the whole family!«
