Sweet Poison

Germany 2012 / Documentary / 89 minutes / Director: Peter Heller / Universal

Director

Peter Heller

Filmmaker Peter Heller has been making films in and about Africa for 30 years. Born in Prague in 1946, he graduated from the Academy for Film and Television. After working for television in Latin America and Asia, he began making documentary films in Germany as an independent author, director and producer. An important part of his work documents problems that arose in Africa. Above all, however, the examination of our own culture and society is a central theme for him: "We must talk about ourselves with a desire to discover reality." Many of Heller's films have received international awards, recognitions and prizes. Retrospectives of his documentary film work have been devoted to him in Amsterdam, Munich, Calcutta, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington. In 1998 he received the highest European television award, the "Prix Europa", together with Sylvie Banuls.
