Michal Vinik was born in Israel in 1976 and graduated in Film & Television from Tel Aviv University. Her debut feature "Blush" (2015) about two lesbian teenagers premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival and went on to become both a festival and sales success: the film traveled to over 90 festivals worldwide, received 10 awards internationally and was sold in 26 countries. Michal Vinik's short films "Bait" (2009) and "Reality Check" (2011) premiered at Locarno and Sundance and won awards in Israel and around the world. In 2017 Michal Vinik wrote the screenplay for Michal Aviad's feminist film "Working Women". "Valeria is getting married" is the director's second feature film of her own and premiered in Venice and Toronto. In addition to her film and television projects, Michal Vinik teaches film at Tel Aviv University and Beit Berl College. She is one of the founders of the Women in Film and Television Israel Forum, which promotes equal opportunities for women in the Israeli film industry.
