Writer and director
Felix Hassenfratz, born 1981 in Heilbronn, lives and works in Cologne. After his civil service he worked as a freelance author as well as set photographer and assistant director, among others for Romuald Karmakar. From 2004 to 2007 he studied film direction at the International Film School in Cologne and subsequently worked as a freelance director for television formats, including children's and youth programmes.
His films have received several awards and attracted attention at international festivals. His short feature film "Der Verdacht" (FBW rating: Especially Worthwhile) won the German Short Film Award, the four-part documentary series "Schnitzeljagd im Heiligen Land" won the Grimme Award in the category Children & Youth Programmes.
"Lost Ones" is his cinema debut and celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2018 in the Perspectives on German Cinema section. Awarded Best Debut Feature Film in Biberach and the NDR Young Talent Award in Emden.
