Germany. A Winter's Tale

Born 1979 in Düsseldorf, Jan Bonny lives and works as a film director and screenwriter in Cologne. He studied at the KHM Cologne, Binger Filmlab Amsterdam and Torino Filmlab. His cinema debut "Counterparts" celebrated its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival (Quinzaine) in 2007 and was shown at the Berlinale and numerous other festivals. In collaboration with Alex Wissel, experimental films such as "Single" (2014) and the web series "Rheingold" (2016) were made, which were shown at the Haus der Kunst Munich, the Kestner Gesellschaft, mumok Vienna and the Kölnischer Kunstverein, among others.

Parallel to "Polizeiruf 110: Das Gespenst der Freiheit" (2017) Bonny developed his second feature film "Germany. A Winter's Tale" (2018). Both films deal with racism and right-wing radicalism. The female leading role in "Germany. A Winter's Tale" was played by Ricarda Seifried, who also in her role in "Polizeiruf" promotes the violent crimes of a Nazi gang. "Germany. A Winter's Tale" celebrated its world premiere in 2018 as the only German entry in the Locarno Competition and won the main prize for "Best Feature Film" at the Film Festival Cologne.
