PREMIERE OF HOW TO BE NORMAL AT METROPOL DÜSSELDORF

Berührende Premiere von How to be Normal mit Regisseur Florian Pochlatko und Hauptdarstellerin Luisa-Céline Gaffron – Kinostart am 11. September

Florian Pochlatko's debut film “How to be Normal” celebrated its German premiere on Tuesday evening, September 2, at the Metropol in Düsseldorf with long-lasting applause. Following the screening, director Florian Pochlatko and lead actress Luisa-Céline Gaffron spoke about the making of the film in a discussion accompanied by lively audience reactions.

A personal look at the struggle with normality

“How to be Normal is a very personal film,” explained Pochlatko. “Many of my experiences as someone affected by this issue have been incorporated into it – inspired by people who lost themselves and found themselves again.” He also deliberately broke with the traditional portrayal of therapists: “I wanted to poke a little fun at those whose authority is not normally questioned.”
Luisa-Céline Gaffron reported on her intensive preparation: "I researched, read, listened to podcasts, and talked to people affected by the issue. For the role, I had to give a lot of myself, let go of shame, and push beyond my limits.“ Her aim is for viewers to use the film to understand ”how unsorted and chaotic life can be – and that we are encouraged to change our system instead of constantly adapting."
