Director
ANDREAS MORELL
Born in Cologne. Studied film directing at the HFF Munich and as a visiting student at the Royal College of Art in London. After further studies in ethnology, he began directing films across all genres. In particular, his documentaries and docudramas about music, musicians, choreographers, and artists of all kinds—such as the composers Arnold Schoenberg, Nino Rota, Tan Dun, Clara Schumann, and Carlo Gesualdo; the performers Lang Lang, Christoph Eschenbach, Sabine Meyer, Piotr Anderszewski, Jean Rondeau, and Martynas Levickis; and the choreographers John Neumeier, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Boris Eifman—have received countless awards. His films on figures from contemporary history, such as Ignaz Bubis, as well as those addressing anti-Semitism and the plight of refugees, have also been highly acclaimed.
